Recently a program friend and I were discussing meeting topics, essentially saying what a simple program this is, no need to make it complicated with off the wall, frilly kind of topics. There's plenty that can be found in Forums and the index of the literature. Not to say that they too don't serve a purpose. One similarity might be trying different way to reach a new destination (out of town) Sure it may be a beautiful day enjoying the lovely scenery, lots to be grateful for along the way...however - it took forever to reach that town because of that. It was an 'out of the way' route that had been taken. An un-obvious meeting topic during the meeting may get me thinking about why it's a topic at that very moment , but will I be able to focus on the program or just deciphering 'the why?' Will I be keeping it with me until the next meeting I attend? I wonder if 'keeping it simple' might work better....letting my own program expand upon that very simple topic all on my own, from there, might be a better answer. In this case the journey is what it's all about, and I can't help but wonder why we would make it more complicated than it need be?
Thank you for letting me share my take on a subject.

Aloha Sunshines...Good share. It reminded me of some information I got when I first got into the family groups. "This is a simple program for complicated people" put me on the lookout for continuing to be that kind of person any longer.
Sunshines, I find that I get out of a meeting whatever it is that I need to no matter what the topic.
I sometimes get bored with the "Let Go" and "Detachment" and "One Day at a Time" meetings, but I ALWAYS get something from it.
For me when I am chairing I will do the road less traveld kind of topic. I like to get people thinking and hear the ESH on the topic.
But no matter what HP continues to show me that I will always have something to learn no matter how many times I have been down that same road, I always see something different. Especially when I am not driving :)
Great share.
Yours in recovery, Mandy
