Latest news on the stolen check

I have heard today the stolen check will not be replaced for a month or more.  I feel absolutely victimized and wronged and upset to say the least.  I feel like I always lose and lose and lose and lose some more.  I am absolutely totally fed up with trying.

Maresie.

Sorry maresie,

That's a ridiculous amount of time.  I don't suppose telling them that it's unacceptable helps?  They have control.  Ugh!!

Hey Maresie,

I understand the irritation and frustration. My federal tax refund check was "lost in the mail". Took a month to determine it is officially lost, and will be another 4-6 weeks to trace it and then replace it. If it was cashed, I imagine that will open another can of worms, because then there is legal involvement. I did recieve the state check, in the form of an I.O.U. Not too handy right now.

I am trying to stay positive and remember that the money will eventually come, and try to use the slogan, "this too shall pass". I gotta say that it is a bit difficult lately given my exAH has decided he will give no more money until we are offically divorced, and then compounded by the huge oak tree limb that fell last night and smashed my deck.

If I really think about it, I realize I probably should be freaking out about now. However, even though I still have some huge obstacles and emotional issues to overcome, I still feel a peace. I think that peace comes from knowing that as long as I am diligent to care for myself, and really that means making the effort to do what is right, my HP will take care of me, and sometimes in a way much better than I could imagine. One example is that I have not rushed through my divorce. It has been pain-staking at times, but I did what felt right for me in terms of consulting the right people and moving at a pace that I could emotionally handle. Downside is 2 yrs out I am still married to someone who has started a whole new life and still has some financial control since we have no legal agreement. The POSITIVE side, is that since we are still married, we filed jointly for taxes and the refund I am waiting for is because our business lost money over the past years. Whooppee!! Based on me, I would be getting 0, but that is certainly not the case now. Of course, in my eyes, I earned every penny!

I believe the same is true for you, Maresie. That check will come and there are good things in store for you. Hang in there are keep moving forward. You are not alone.

Blessings,
Lou

((((Maresie))),

If this was a work check I would think you could call human resources and explain to them how badly you need this check. Are you telling me that they can't put a stop payment on that check?  I would find out whose in charge of that decision and go the next step up.  Take no prisoners.  Get in their face until you get the answers as to why it is taking so long.  It's already been a month.  You can do this.  Love and blessings to you and your family.

No the check is from the state and they are saying someone else cashed it.  So now it has to go through a whole investigation.  My signature is very distinctive and every check I ever have is put through the bank.

So no there are very few resources I can pursue on this one. Right now I am insisting they send me a copy of the canceled check so I can file a police report.  We will see if they do that.

Meantime I am out of the money and feel totally victimized.

Maresie.

Absolute bummer Maresie, very frustrating, I am going through a time dealing with officialdom right now myself and was quite firm with the person last night and vocal in an email. I actually laughed when I got the return email which opened with " I am sorry to hear you are having difficulties" this is the person responsible for some of my lack of information etc, and there is no going over her head, lets go ARGGGGGGGGGGGG ARGGGGGGGGGGGG together, and I'm definitely going to punch some pillows, absolute nightmare,
