Queen of Denial

I'm thinking of changing my name, it should be the Queen of Denile. Mind you just found out about my daughter's drinking problem this week end. She kept it well hid from me or I just didn't let myself see. OK if I am honest I knew she drank but being a alcoholic no way. I still don't believe it. When I called her this morning I asked if she needed a drink or just had a drink cause she was board and I was shocked when she told me she needed it. This all can't be happening but it is.

Hi BlueLady

Denial is something I am very familar with.  It is a tool I used often in dealing with painfulsituations that I had no idea how to handle.  I am glad I found alanon because it was then that I was finally able to acknowledge the problem of alcoholism in my family and to reach for the tools tha saved my life.

You are not alone  Please keep coming here - posting- visit the Chat Room- try the Meetings held here 2xs a day and also

Look up Alanon Meetings in the White pages of the Tel Dir.

You will find help, compassion and understanding and NO ONe Will Tell You What To DO and NO ONe will Judge you or the Alcoholic.

Praying for your peace

One of the aspects of this program that I found most comforting was to discover that I truly was not alone; that many of the situations I found myself in or sudden realizations of what my life truly had become, had been shared by many.

I did not realize my AH was truly an A until about 48 hrs before he went to rehab. As for the pain pills he had been abusing for years ( still don't know how many years, but probably close to 10), I had NO IDEA. NONE. I just thought I was married to a jerk who had a mysterious illness that made him sweat in the night and wretch every morning, among many other wierd and disgusting ailments. Ha!

I get it now, and it sounds as if you do too. Onward. This program will help you immensly. F2F meetings are invaluable as is a daily reader. Glad you are here.

Keep coming back,

Lou
