The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
I was at the East Texas Area AWSC meeting yesterday representing my home district. Our Area Delegate passed on some information to me which I did not know about that I would like to share with you all.
She told us that our Al-Anon monthly magazing "The Forum" is in very real danger of being done away with.
Subscriptions to the magazine have dropped significantly over the last couple of years to the point where a decision is going to have to be made about continuing its publication.
For those of you who have never seen one, it is a really excellent magazine referred to as "A meeting in my pocket" which contains sharings from members from around the world. Some of you may have even submitted articles to and been published in the magazine.
It is a great tool in my toolbox. It shares personal stories of recovery along with important information and has meeting ideas, etc etc etc!
If we want to continue to have this resource for our recovery and for those who will come in the future we need to support it.
If you have let your subscription lapse, like I had, renew it!!! If you are reading someone else's copy...subscribe and get your own. If you have never seen one, as your group rep, she/he should be getting a copy every month if your group is registered. Look it over, I think you will see its merit.
Anyway, I am not a salesman by any stretch of the imagination...hate trying to sell things....but I just wanted to pass on the information to all of you, so that if you think, as I do, that this magazine is important you can start supporting it now if you dont already, before it will no longer be available to us.
The cost of the magazine is $11.00 a year and can be ordered online from the WSO's website at:
I'm GR in one of my groups and we have made three attempts over the last 5 or 6 months to increase the amount of Forums we receive from 12 to 36 each month. A this point we still receive only 12. In our district meeting two weeks ago another group expressed having the same problem. We haven't given up, but I keep reminding myself of the "Three C's".
