Well I made it through 'D day with out any major pitfalls, except I couldn't get into MIP message board or chat room...ughhh! I finally got into the message board today, so thought I would let everyone know that I survived!
I met the lawyer at 8:15 a.m. yesterday morning and we took the block walk up to the courthouse and as he went he explained to me what would transpire. I had to walk through a metal detective device when I got there and then on to the courtroom.
Ours was the first case heard, so that was lucky. It was scheduled for 8:30 a.m. and it pretty much started on time. I had to take the stand and be sworn in and my lawyer asked me questions from his seat. Just easy yes and no questions like did I reside at such ans such address, and when we seperated and just general stuff. It was really no big deal since it was uncontested, but sitting up there on that court bench made me nervous.
It was over before I knew it and we were walking back to his office for a final document that I would have to sign and take to now ex-husband to sign. It was for ease of transfering titleship of vehicles we owned in case of both our names being on the title (which I don't think they are...but anyway).
I feel like a huge burden has been lifted. And I appreciate all your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. I was fortunate enough that I had a Divorce Care meeting with my support group last night, so that helped too.
As I suspected: This too shall Pass! and it did!

"Congratulations" doesn't quite seem appropriate, but I am glad you are finished and made it through without any difficulty. On one hand, thinking about the courtroom experience makes me happy that we have a Collaborative Divorce going, then again, I am still "married" and don't seem to be too close to signing anytime soon. I hope getting your ex to sign will be uneventful as well.
My sponsor encouraged me to pick a slogan this past week to focus on, and the only one I could come up with that could really work for me was, "This too shall pass". Thank goodness, huh?!
And on you go....
Blessings, Lou
