Tired of Negativity

I havent posted anything since last Oct. here, had alot of things going on. Hard to believe that this time last year I was worried about how I could support my family with my part time job when my ah went to jail for 6 months for his 3rd dui. How nice to have to only worry about money and not drama from my ah! It was the most peaceful time I've had in 20 years not worrying about where he is or his bad decision making. So he's served his time and been out since May, and how I hoped and dreamed that he would be so appreciative of all the blessings we have in life. That was MY hope and MY dream. We cant control anyone but ourselves. Darn but how we try.

Hello suzie , alcoholics are negative people ,drinking or not with out some recovery nothing changes except they don't drink . i hope u go to meetings for yourself  if not please go now  , everything is positive , all kinds of suggestions on how to turn your life around , you don't have to go on these neg trips with him , u too have a choice on how your going to live your life  with dignity and grace .    Leave his mood with him where it belongs , don't take it on ,enjoy your children and get your life back  .  Louise-- focus on the only thing u can change  YOU.

Louise suggested some really good things - surround yourself with positive people. I have found that in my f2f meetings and here on MIP - recovery people are positive minded and hopeful.

Not that we ignore or stuff are feelings - we just choose to see the world and life with the eyes of HOPE.

Folks that are hurting from this disease and not seeking help for that hurt usually are unable to have that same type of outlook.

BUT a positive outlook is contagious. You can't do anything to "help" him in his pain, but seeing you live a life Happy, Joyous and Free regardless of the difficulties in your life may spark a thought as to "maybe this recovery thing does have something I might be interested in"

The traditions talk about atttraction rather than promotion - People see the peace and serenity in our lives and that may cause them to want what we have.

Take good care of YOU - You deserve it - The most loving gift I can give to my spouse and/ family is a healthy ME.

HUGS,
Rita

Aloha Suzip!!

Good post and responses.  Staying away from negativity is difficult and still a whole
lot easier than when I first got here.  One of the things I learned was to install a
positive filter in my thought and emotions life and turn the setting up to high.  I
also gave myself permission that when negativity rose and started to seep past
the filter to just quietly turn away and walk from it; go do something anything better.
After I left no one complained I was gone and no one missed my participation.

Turn off the noise!!

(((((hugs))))) smile
