Really mad!

(((Family))),

So sad once again the news this morning reported that the woman who killed 8 people in a car crash was drunk & high. furiousfurious  What a waste. What will it take for people to wake up and realize that this is a disease?  That people need help and that we owe it to future generations to educate, regulate and help people in need?  How many more lives are going to be wasted to this horrible disease?  We talk about texting and driving (and it's important) and the dangers.  When was the last time we really talked about this? I'm sorry I am just so mad about this.  I knew in my heart when I first heard about this story that some kind of drug had to be involved.  Now that it's confirmed it makes me mad as censored.gif ! It's just so senseless.   Jerry send me the letter to the editor, I'll sign it!  Thanks for letting me vent. rage.gif  Much love and blessings to you and your families.

Live strong,
Karilynn & Pipers Kitty furious

Yeah, I saw that on the news last night too, understandably people are outraged.  I honestly thought with Michael Jackson's death people would have been talking more about addiction in general & speculated it would change views b/c we'd all be talking about it more but it seems the focus is more on wrongful death, instead.

I pray everyday that the whole planet get healing & for god's Will be Done.

You are right it is senseless ~ I wonder what the husband thinks/feels.  He lost his wife and both kids.  Tragic all around, I am saddened for all hurt or involved.

Yep... I"m right there with ya, I have said the same thing to the courts in our area, I have an ABrother that has 4 DWI's under his belt and in our state, he has only seen the inside of an AA Meeting ONCE, and since he didn't follow thru, they fined him and sent him right back on the street... Mind ya, he hasn't had a Drivers licenses since he was 17, and now he is 30... But some how they don't see it as grounds to keep him LOCKED UP till he has better sense..."If he will EVER"...

I figure they are waiting on something like just happened before they will step in and do something with him, My Mom has offered him help, and he says he "Don't have a Problem" but yet his Record says other wise...

I am NO Angel, I have had my dealings with (1) DWI myself some 12 years ago... I went to my AA, I went to my Probation and I regret it to this day, but I didn't go out and do it again...

Sorry your having a Rough time... I can sooo Relate to why you feel the way you do...

Keeping you in my Prayers pray.gif
Jozie

Yes, and it happens every single day. Senseless. And frightening.

I have called in drivers who were driving recklessly. And I will continue to do so.

I have first hand experience with tragedy that could have easily been prevented and that is the worst kind of complicated grief there is.

If we could just use our anger to make a real change. And this is why the disease of alcoholism is the only disease that gets a person yelled at.

So disgustingly sad...... and I would go so far to say that society, as a whole, are NOT outraged by these and other events.... of course, nobody wants them to happen, but we spend thousands of times more money on advertising for beer & alcohol companies, as compared with treatment for alcoholism options, etc....  There are lawyers who "specialize" in getting people off - scott free - from their DUI/DWI charges......  even the media, when it comes to this felony - tend to downplay it, for the most part....

I dunno where it stops..... or how we help stop it....  but I do know that it is wrong, and has to stop....

It makes no sense, at all...those beautiful little girls. My ex has had four lifetime DUIs and has never spent more than a weekend in jail. They keep giving him another chance, though the last time he totalled the car and hasn't gotten his license back. He had these in three different states, and apparently they don't communicate, becuase three of them were treated as first offenses. Thank HP he hasn't hurt anyone but himself.....

Incredibly sad

Its been on the local news and believe I heard today maybe this would show the need of stiffer penalties under the law.

This topic was (re-aired) Sunday on 60 Minutes, showing how/why a New York District Attorney treated it as murder, not manslaughter. It then showed the DA speaking at high schools, giving the message that if you choose to drive drunk you will face jail time. I just looked up the statistics (they give) and had no idea every 39 minutes someone is killed by a drunk driver.

Here is a link to the video on it:

Unfortunately as long as there are alcoholics, they will drive.   Though I'm glad they are beginning to give stiffer penalties, IMO, the problem needs to be dealt with at the core level...

Most drunk people don't have the decision making skills that tell them not to drive.  They always think they are "just fine".

There's just some things you should be unable to buy your way out of with a lawyer.  Like anything after the first DUI.
With overcrowded prisons, that won't happen anytime soon.  They let prisoners out with nonviolent offences because they don't have room.  Let alone the alcoholics that are everywhere from the United States Senate to the homeless street bum will fight for their disease and what seems to be the right to continue to kill innocent people.

What this reminds me of is how much the ex A acted out on the road. He crashed and crashed our cars.  I am so grateful he did not kill anyone including me and the dogs. There is no doubt he could have at anytime.  He was and is completely irresponsible and is one of those people who should not be permitted to drive. I think it takes far too much for someone to be banned from driving.  I believe they should be far far stricter and not permit certain people to drive at all.  If they do they should get prison time rather than fines. The ex A had fines galore, nothing stopped him even a suspended license.
