I spent most of the day today in San Antonio playing. I had a great time and was pulling back into my hometown about 9 o'clock.
I am tired, but was trying to decide if I wanted to pull into the video store near my house to rent a movie to "watch" while I crash on my couch. I decided it sounded good so I did.
Went in, picked out a movie, and was standing at the counter to pay for it. In walks a young lady who works at the video store too and she has a little 2-3 yr old girl walking with her. Hmmm, maybe walking is not the right word...she is "flitting" around all bouncing and smiles...cute as a bug.
Well they walk over near me and the older girl, I think it was her big sister or her aunt, tells the little one to go give the girl working behind the counter a hug. She turns to look at who her sister is telling her to hug and her eyes lock on mine instead.
As the little girl turned to follow instructions she spread her little arms out as far as she could to hug. She was standing about 10 feet from me.
Welp she is standing there with her arms open looking me in the eye, not sure if she is supposed to hug me, be afraid of me or what! I mean she is all of 30" tall to my imposing 6'4" frame.
I step back from the counter that I am leaning on, turn and face the little girl, smile and open my arms up to her.
She runs the 10 feet over to me, arms still open! I crouch down and give that little angel a big ole hug and tell her thank you. Her sister says, "Wow, that never happens, she is usually afraid of strangers".
I am so grateful I went into that store. I am so grateful you all have given me the courage to take a risk in a public place of looking foolish standing there with my arms open if the little girl had decided I was just too scarey. I am glad you have shown me how to look for opportunities like that. And that you have turned this once sour faced, angry, scarey looking man into someone a small child is not afraid of.
What a gift. A hug from my HP from the arms of a beautiful little angel.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend friends, I know I will.
I believe children of this age are still so fresh from heaven, they still "remember" what we tend to forget as we age, that we are spiritual beings, or children of God. I think she was celebrating that with you, she was hugging a fellow angel...

That's so sweet. I remember I was having a really bad day at work. I was in the bathroom when all of a sudden I see this little face peeking under the stall. He looked at me and said "What are you doing in there?" I was so startled that all I could say was "What are you doing out there?" When I came out his mother apologized to me. I told her don't. It really made my day! Out of the mouth of babes can the whole day change. Thanks for making my day. I've always had a passion for tall men. Tim was 6'5" to my 5' 1 1/2" (that half inch counts buddy). Much love and blessings to you and your family. Kiss da'boys for me.

You're never tooo tall to be hugged by God David. If God needs a little bit more height to reach your heart, God will use a child. Yay for you big guy...YAY!
