I'd like to start by thanking Overcoming for chairing last's night Step and Traditions meeting. I would also like to apologize to everyone for popping in, sharing and running off. If you have a second, I'd like to share a little bit about my day yesterday.
Baiscally, it was a confusing day for me. I've been coming to MIP for a year now and I still have so much to learn. I have been doing the 1.2.3. dance with the steps and am pushing myself to get into a good face to face group, find a sponsor and take the steps from there. I'm ready to move forward, but I can't do it alone.
Last nights meeting was on the 7th step and 7th tradition. Honestly, I know nothing about... I keep teeter tottering between 1, 2 & 3. I can barely get a firm grip on 2 and 3 more or less think about anything beyond that. Anyways... something came over me to share. Normally I am not one to speak on something if I do not somewhat understand. I would have normally set back, listened and learned. Last night something inside my gut said......SHARE. So I did.
I started my share by being honest and letting everyone know I had no clue what I was talking about. After my share, I darted out of the meeting to go and pull myself together. I learned something last night about this program that makes it even all more wonderful than I already thought it was. That is:
No matter how long you have been in the program, no matter what it is you are going through, no matter how much or little knowledge you have on the topics.......there is always someone who can relate, teach, and learn from something I might share.
Last night I shared not knowing anything about the 7th step and tradition. Today, I know more about it, I helped others and I am looking forward towards the next step meeting.
I leaned that no matter what step dance I am doing, I can learn something from any of the steps. For that I am greatful. That's progress and I'm worth it and you are too!
With all of that being said, I would like to encourage everyone to contine sharing - not only for yourself, but for everyone else too!
So glad that last nights step/tradition meeting helped you so much. I know that it helped to open up the room to shares. Step/Tradition meetings can be hard sometimes, especially if there are a lot of newcomers in the room, like there were last night. All I really had to say was just share openly and honestly about what you think on this step/tradition, like Sincerely did, and everyone started opening up and sharing. It was awesome! I am grateful for the individuals that "put themselves out there" and risked the share. It is not always easy to share, especially when your new, but the rewards you'll reap are endless. So if your in a meeting and your HP is nudging you to share, please do so, you'll never regret it!
Lovingly, Overcome
