Another death from alcoholism

My husband, who I am seperated from, called me tonight to say that one of his old drinking buddies had been put on life support and all systems were failing. This is a 58 year old man that was told a year ago that if he didn't quit drinking that he would die. He quit drinking for a little while but didn't go to AA and then he went right back to it. Before the night was over, at about 10:30 p.m. Central time, my husband got the news that he had passed.

It is so sad and senseless when someone dies of alcoholism. We know that it is a cunning, baffling and powerful disease which is often deadly if it remains unarrested. So was the case with my husband's friend. It is so sad. He was a nice man who had a lot to offer the world. It's a harsh saying but the alcoholic either gets locked up, covered up (death) or sobered up. Unfortunately in this man's case it will to be "covered up". It was of his chosing. And we all have that right to chose. It's just so sad when they chose to die this way.

Prayers please, my husband is very upset.

I am so sorry for your husbands loss....My prayers are with you all.  I have always said that this disease is striaght from the devil, as it is so evil, makes no sense and only causes pain. I wish the fear of being locked up or covered up was the solution to becoming sober but as we all know consequences dont cure an A.

My heart goes out to you,

This disease is the worse thing I have ever experienced in my life HP is there but people just dont seem to find him sometimes.  Although I hate this disease I am grateful it came into my life in the form of my AB or I may have never found HP.  Lets hope and pray this man has finally found HP and is no longer in pain

thanks for your share

(((overcome))) praying for you and your husband.
It is a tragedy that so many lives are lost in this way. noIt's so hard to understand that someone can drink themselves to death.
I heard this saying , "First a man takes a drink, then the drink takes a drink, then the drink takes the man. "

Sorry for your loss of your husbands friend, I don't think they choose to die this way my personal opinion seems to think that by the time they get this far into the disease it's not a choice anymore.  They just can not stop no matter how bad t hey want to.  The disease has taken control totally and they are totally powerless.

Maybe in some way his death can save someone else from going down  his path.  I am sending  you my prayers.

Andrea

I'm sorry for your husband's loss.  I've certainly been there with the grief and shock of dealing with a death that was unnecessary.
