An Attitude Adjustment..with a pinch of humor

Hi ((((Family))))

I got another dose of my HP's sense of humor this week so I thought I would share it with you.

I was sitting at work Monday, minding my own business, doing my job when my supervisor came in to my office and had a strange look on his face...one that said he has some news and he didn't think I was going to like it.

He asked if I had a minute.  Instantly I felt a moment of panic!  Oh boy, what is up??worry.gif

I took a breath and said, "sure, what's up".

He proceeds to tell me that I am temporarily being transferred to a different office for the next few months to help work on a large project in San Antonio that help is needed with.

Welp, I am a tad suprised omfg.gif, but after finding out that I will not have to make the two hour drive everyday into SA from where I live and that the work will primarily be done from my own office I settle down some.

A bit later I get an email from a friend of mine that works in another office who informs me that he has also been "recruited" to help with this.  We have full work loads already that will have to slip and be picked up by others in our office so that we can work on this new project.  He is not happy and is rather negative in his email.

I write a reply....which is full of sarcasm...esentially saying how, I am sooo grateful to be given this "opportunity" to help out another section with this work.  I hit the reply button....only to realize immediately that I have sent it to the "higher up" that has chosen us to be a part of this new temporary team.

I immediately try to retract the email, but this gentleman had already opened it up and read it! omg.gif

Oh boy.  I am really worried.......but decide pretty quickly that there is nothing I can do about it now.

A few minutes later I get a reply back.  The gentleman tells me how much he appreciates my willingness to step up and help with this important project. confuse

I re-read what I sent again, in the reply, and turned off the sarcastic tone I had in my head when I wrote it and realized that without the tone it did sound like I was being sincere.

With a little nod to HP, I started laughing at myself.  He got me....again!  And the great thing is that after I got that reply thanking me, I really did feel exactly the way he thought I did.  It was like, okay David, you realize it IS an opportunity to do something to help others AND to work on a bigger project than I have ever worked on before..... $60,000,000 project..... to learn something new AND also have the opportunity to show my value as an employee...which never hurts!  wink

In 20+ years working and sending, receiving and responding to emails, I have never made a mistake like that.  Perhaps it wasn't a mistake after all, but my crafty HP sending me the gift of an attitude adjustment.  smile

Yours in Recovery,
David

Isn't it wonderful when we slow down long enough to realize who is in charge. ! ! ! !

LOL on Christy's inventory of your email...  You got saved brother!!  Yay HP.  I've
had that also big time and I'll just bet later on that more will come from it for you
and maybe even someothers.   Keep and open mind and see what shows up.

(((((hugs))))) smile

I'm glad it turned out for the best. Change can be unnerving.
