Dear all, am a bit upset today, a lady I know died yesterday evening from chronic alcoholism, leaving her fourteen year old daughter behind. She was my age, 44, and I liked her though she was a messy drunk, she had good qualities but was afflicted with the disease, I am going to part of the funeral and I know two years ago I would have been so judgemental and probably not have gone, her daughter is being fostered by one of her sisters but I know the lady really loved that girl, would appreciate hugs and prayers.
(((( maire rua )))) I too am sorry for your loss and will pray for the 14 year old daughter. Alcoholism claims so many through death. It is so sad. I have known a couple myself. One through suicide and one that feel down the stairs and broke his neck drunk. I also know an older man who had 20 years in AA, but his many drinking days caused him to go into early alcoholic dementia (alzheimers). It is a cunning, baffling, and powerful disease.

Aloha Maire!! Prayers and hugs it is...Just went thru very similar with a close friend...female who relapsed after 13 years and then when hand to hand with the disease as best she could until it took her out. Nothing in her not to love. She wasn't a bad person...whe was a very sick person.
Sending you and yours love. I feel really sad for the girl. No matter what it was her mom. I hope she knows her mom was sick and never would choose to be an A. And her mom, even though she was ill, loved her very much.
I am thankful you learned so much for your own heart to know this person had a disease and deserves your sympathy. hugs, debilyn
