Progress

I just got a call from a boiler room operation.  A young woman wanted to talk to me about my credit card ending in XXXX.  Credit card ending in XXXX has been cancelled, because some scam artists got hold of it and were charging little $2 and $4 items to my account.  The  card company alerted me--said they do that, then hit you with a big
purchase or purchases.  Since it was changed, I have gotten maybe five of these, "You recently made a purchase from one of our affiliated companies and we want to send you free gifts."
At this point I usually start going off on people.  This time I could hear a man shouting in the background, and I asked "Marisa" if he were shouting at some older person.  She said no.  I told her a telemarketer yelled at me once, "Are you so ignorant...whatever."
Anyway, today I felt calm and I told the young woman that I know that times are tough, and I hope she can find a job where her talents can be better used.  Told her she has a lovely phone voice (and some really good customer service skills, btw) and that I hope she has a blessed day.  She thanked me.  I hope she thinks about it.
And I didn't feel angry or threatened.  (It's pretty easy to not feel threatened when somebody is trying to scam you with a canceled card, but that didn't make any difference before).
I am blessed.  It's a small thing.  Historically, it hasn't taken any thing very big to set me off.  I like the calm feeling.
Thank you all for helping me.

Temple

LOL, GREAT post, temple....ya know they don't care....but it was good , no GREAT work on your part..letting these "bottom feeders" not wreck your day.....she most likely knew, but your nice attitude and not *reacting* to them wrecked their day.......LOVE it.....

I get these drug dealers who STILL pester my phone....i rigged it to sound like it was a "non phone for incomming messages"....they hang up....but they call and call and call.....

well? one of them used a caller ID called "insurance"f...fooled me.....i answer and it is THEM.......i put on the "sweet rosie" and said "oh sir, i am sorry, there is noone by the name of Rose here...you must have wrong number....."  he apologized and hung up.......i was soo cool....old rose would have "gone off" on the dude....but NO negative reaction starves the evil.....it cannot do anything with NON reaction OR reaction w/kindness......

YAAAAY  TEMPLE......GREAT job

Woo Hoo!!

You go, girl!

I used to get all frustrated with folks like that, but I find that when I put my "sweet voice" on, tell them "no thank you and would you please remove this number from your list?" I always feel a bit refreshed instead of thoroughly annoyed after hanging up.

Kill'em with kindness LOL biggrin.gif
