THE GIFT OF GRIEF

 Dear Friends,

Many of us have an intimate relationship with Alcoholism whether we consciously attracted it deliberately or simply by default.  As a child of alcoholics my reality revolved around drink, drugs and rock and roll. Although I was blessed from the desire to drink and drug...I, certainly, rocked and rolled my way through life --- a dance of ecstasy, a dance of death, a death of grief and at last a dance of gratitude.

Today, I have a continuous chorus of loving voices and partners teaching me new ways to dance...a dance of grace, dignity and joyful gratitude. Your steps weren't easy to learn...but, I gotem' down now. Someone said, "Life is made of stories not atoms." Thanks for your stories, your voices and your steps.

Loving the dance, Lani

"Grief deepens us. It allows us to explore the perimeters of our soul. Grief is the only gateway to certain levels of consciousness, even though it is a hard taskmaster. The seeds of wisdom and enlightenment are planted within the wounds of grief. What is lost can only come back to us again in higher ways. Essential life and love can never leave you, because you are that. And if you are being true to yourself and living with integrity of purpose, and the relationship fails anyway, know always that Great Spirit loves you."

Lani,

great post.  I can relate to it.  Pain is part of the process of growing.  And in my growth I have learned a few new dance steps along the way.  Life is a big dance - and the music its cheorgrapher.
