I'm feeling really good this morning, so I just wanted to share my ESH.
I'm officially working step 3 with my sponsor, and I've finally started to get myself into a rhythm of using the third step prayer (not CAL, but from the Big Book, page 63).
What's really interesting, is that after a meditation meeting a couple weeks ago, I had shared about trying to turn my qualifier over to my higher power (that way I stay out of his business!). My sponsor had been at the same meeting, and afterwards she suggested I insert my qualifier's name into the Third Step Prayer based on some powerful results she's heard from another Al-Anon friend.
So, I decided "okay, I'll try that out"... and I tell you, it seems to be working. For whatever reason, when I insert his name into the prayer, it seems to stick in my head and through the rest of the day, when I feel my head wanting to whiplash back over to what HE's doing, I quickly remind myself.. "Nope, he's in God's hands."
So, every morning now, I try to take some time to get still and quiet, send my love and gratitude to my HP, then I'll do the Third Step Prayer twice - once inserting my qualifier's name in it, and once for me.
So far, I am enjoying the results. Next baby step with this Third Step prayer is to remember to get reflective in the evenings. ;)
