Let me wish you all a Happy Memorial Day weekend. While this is the unofficial start of the summer season, let us pause and remember what this day truly is all about. Let us remember those who gave thier lives for this country and all around the world. My father was a vet, my grandfather as well as my beloved Tim. I will put a flag on my father's grave as well as dear friend's.
To the Alanon families who have loved ones serving our country and other countries, may they all return safe and sound to their loved ones arms. Thank them from the bottom of my heart for me. It is truly a gift to be able to do this. To the families left behind, my gratitude for your sacrifice as well. Being a military family is not easy. Add addiction issues on top of it and you have my admiration for all your strength, wisdom and love you bring to us here.
For our Alanon members who are serving their country: from the bottom of my heart I thank you. What you do is truly remarkable. Come home safe and sound to us. We love you all. To my Alanon family that has served, my affection and gratitude is no less. Bless you all. I wrap my arms around all of you.
I know this weekend can be tough on all of us. Do the best you can. Work your program and know that you are never alone in this journey. Much love and blessings to you and your families. Love to my Alanon pets too. Don't forget they deserve an extra treat too.
Live strong, Karilynn & Pipers Kitty

Thanks Karilyn for the beautiful post. My father served in War World II and hubby served in Korea. Korea is hardly mentioned in any reocognition. That is why it is called the forgotten war.
Today, my husband and his VFW Post will go to the local cemetery in town and put flags on the veterans graves. Right now, my husband is suffering from his back problems, plus the emphysemia and COPD, but nothing would stop him for doing his duty.
Most of the veterans in his post are Viet Nam vets. Everyone of them, and I mean everyone of them suffer from the effects of Agent Orange. They all suffer from this everyday. We need to remember all of our veterans in our prayers this week end(and all the time)
Thanks for the beautiful reminder of why we live in a free and wounderful country.
