People pleasing as a disease ...author B.Ford

The moment we try to please another and abandon our own truth for theirs, we essentially hand our power to them, violate our own integrity, cut ourselves off from our inner wisdom, and - at least for a while - disconnect from our ability to love and nurture ourselves. (I know this so well, because I've done it a million times!) We may do this with our children, spouses, employers, friends and society at large. When being a "good girl" or a "good boy" becomes a way of life, we can be sure that resentments will build, desperation and neediness will increase, and we'll travel deeper into the land of victim consciousness. (Betty Ford).

Pretty powerful don't you think!! A friend sent this to me today, and I had to take a deep breathe, as I was reading this passage.  How many times have I done this?  This is something I will remember for a long time. I hope that this is interesting for those who will read this. Have a good evening.

Hugs & Blessing

Hi, Teddybear.  People pleasing...ah yes, that's a difficult one for me.  I need to be stronger, yet gracious in expressing myself.  I am usually wondering if I am saying or doing the "right" thing.  I don't have any trouble expressing myself, though, with my A anymore--only took about 26 years.  When I am in a situation that causes stress, I have been asking my HP to be at my side.  It really helps.  Thanks for the reminders.  Blessings, Annie

Hi Annie,

I hope that you are well tonight.  Like the saying goes....better late than never.  I am proud of you that you have made so much progress.  The HP is always with us, when we have done our best, and can not do more, our HP guides us through the rest.  Sometimes we have it, and sometimes we don't.  It is a good thing to validate the times we can put our new attitudes into practice, and as time goes on, we get better at it.  Take care, and have a restful night.

Hugs & Blessings
