The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
I didn't want to highjack Maria123's thread, so I thought I would finally start one of my own.
The Arizona Al-Anon Convention is June 5-7, 2009, in Tucson. Our theme is "Deep in the Heart of Al-Anon." Here is a link to the registration information:
http://www.al-anon-az.org/events.htm
On Friday night, we have an AA speaker and an ice cream social. On Saturday, a banquet, Al-Anon speaker, a skit (tentatively entitled "Dancing with the Al-Anon Stars") and a dance (this year, in keeping with the cowboy theme, there will be country music and linedancing with instruction).
The AA/Al-anon speakers are a married couple and I am excited to hear their stories from their own, personal experience of the same situation.
On Sunday, we end with an Al-Anon spiritual speaker.
Throughout the weekend, there will be Al-anon, AA and Alateen meetings and workshops. If you have never been to a convention, I strongly encourage you to go to one--it is a wonderful experience!!
Please feel free to PM me if you need any additional information.
All are welcome!!
Yours in Recovery,
SLS

Gosh, I would love to go. The only way it can happen is if my husband has those days off from work and can watch our son. What are the chances of last-minute registration?????
I'm excited! I just booked my hotel room for the convention and was able to get the $79 rate! There's still no guarantee that I'll make it, but if I can, at least I have a place to stay. And I can cancel the room 24-hours prior without a penalty fee.
My husband (who is on medical leave from work) is trying to get his leave extended because he still has more doctors to see and more tests to be done. If he gets his leave extended, then we can go to the convention. He will be there to take care of our son while I attend the convention. Sorry, but there's no way I can trust him home alone for 2 days at this time, so I'm dragging them along with me - LOL!
