The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
This weekend is the Lake Area Round-Up AA Convention in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
On Saturday I will be the Al-Anon Speaker at 1 pm.
Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. This will be my first time to share my story since leaving my ex in November. My ex is still attending meetings and "playing Mr. Recovery" all while we are going thru this ugly and revengeful divorce.
I know that God still has it in His Plan for me to speak this weekend and has a story for me to tell. To share about acceptance, recovery and perservance during trying times. This story is NOT about my ex or his actions - it is about how I have been affected by the disease of alcoholism/addiction.
So anyway - It will be a challenge to stand before this crowd of people - some who think they know what went on in our home - before him and his smug attitude because of all the things he is doing thru the legal system - but I know that I have my HP in my heart and mind to carry me thru this. I also have tons of my recovery family that will be at the convention giving me their emotional support.
So, if anyone is in the Southwest Louisiana area and would like to attend a good convention - we usually have a great time. And I would appreciate your thoughts and prayers - That I carry the message - that no matter what - we can survive the affects of this disease - we can find a way to serenity and sanity - we can be Happy, Joyous and Free if we are willing to let our HP guide us down that path of our own recovery.
Wishing each of you a day filled with JOY, Rita

Me too!! I hope your share encourages someone else to seek change in their life also. It ain't about "Mr. Recovery" at all when I listen to a member of the Al-Anon Family Groups. Thanks in advance. (((((hugs)))))
I will be at the conference my home group sponsors each year this weekend, I will be sure to send some supporting thoughts your way!!
I live in Texas, but two of the biggest influences in recovery I have began their programs in Louisiana AA and Al-Anon. We have had many speakers at this conference the last few years from Louisiana as a result of their involvement. All them have been excellent speakers with great es&h.
I am sure you are going to be great too!
(((Rita)))
I thank you too for your service to the fellowship!
Wow Rita! Just your share right here gave me hope! I went thru the nasty divorce and my ex wanders around the AA rooms like he is the king and his GF is the queen. What you shared here lets me know that my recovery is about me and my life. No longer about him, and if I run into them at our local conventions, it's ok. And those in the program who "choose" a side, well, they have no idea what I still deal with daily.
Good luck!!! All my good thoughts and prayers will be with you!!!
thanks so much for the prayers and good thoughts of encouragement!!
I greatly appreciate it!!
I know that God has a planned and as I listened to one of my fav Christian music groups this morning - Casting Crowns - "Praise you in this Storm" has been my fav song lately. "where does my help come from . " I know where my strength comes from - The God of my understanding who has gotten me so far in recovery and in FREEDOM!
HUGS to you all,
Rita
David - hope your conference goes well too!! Maria - I'm sure you will do great at chairing at yours!
