A good friend

 Hi (((All)))

The disease of alcoholism has taken over a friend of mine. I work in the health profession, Tuesday whilst on duty I came across an old friend. I was so shocked as to their condition. He's so ill with all the complications of alcoholic liver disease. To see him this way was awful, it really got to me. I kept up my professional manner but inside I was devastated

It is only a matter of months since I last seen him, he must of stepped up his drinking massivley in that time. I cant believe this has happend so fast. He detoxed last year and was full of hope.
I know this disease is cunning, baffling and powerful, it got a hold on someone who had got free of herion and crack by their own hard work. I'm so sad for him to have to go through this after all his efforts to get free of addiction.
Please say a prayer for my friend John. I'm praying this is not the end and he will fight back.

With Gratitude Carol

I will keep your friend in my prayers... And you as well.. I could not imagine working in the health field with all the addicts that are our there now... I could not do what you do... In my small town, over half are addicted to something... it is terrible.. and sad that he would kick a habit such as "herion" and allow something like alcohol to take him further into bad health... I have old friends myself that I have watched the herion take over what they use to call a life... One of my dear friends from school has been addicted to about everything known to man, alcohol, crack, speed, uppers, downers, and herion...He came from a good family, "With No Addicts" but lost his father at 13 and has just went down hill from there... His last near death was from herion, he was in a coma for almost a week, and when he was released I don't think he made it 2 days before he was back on herion again... And his name is John as well...As was my Afather, and My Abrother... Must be something about that name:(

This board has helped me deal or cope with such friends and I am grateful to have it...As I am sure you are as well...Keeping you and your friend in my prayers...

Friends in Recovery...
Jozie

Alcoholism is a hard ona to kick cause it's so socially accepted. I hope your friend makes it.
