Met may A and softened when he said he is going to go to a meeting.  However deep down I thought it was for my benefit as  he knows I want him to attend aa so we are on the same prograame.  On the day of the meeting I went to his house to give him a lift.  We ended up having a really indepth coversation that got a little heated at times.  i told him I didnt trust him if he wasnt in recovery that i wanted him to attend aa so we were following the same programme.  However i know it wont work unl,ess he wants it is ready.  I talked about my addiction and recovery.  I told him I wanted to but out of his.  He said he is ready to look at himself he has stayed in for weeks now not engaging with friend s who drink etc trying to control it all alone.  He said hes not sure if aa is for him but does want to explore other services agencies.  I respected his wishes.  I am back to focusing on myself.  He is contemplating accessing help he is beginning to look at self but still has some denial. NOTHING I CAN DO!.

I intend to continue with my recovery mind my own business which is so hard for me.  If he doesnt enter some kind of professional help soon I will call it a day I am recovering i will not go under with him.

another problem i have is staying in today I keep thinking of the future and how I will never have the life I dream of with him.  Need to really start working my steps again
Powerless over him, insanely focusing outside self, ask for HPs guidance and help

thanks

Aloha Tracy!!

Good work...for you.  Don't ever worry that your desire cannot be his turn of the
door knob.  I have seen other alcoholics come in to recovery because a family
member was "moving away" in the relationship and it caused the drunk to
reconsider.   Once they get in the room, sit down and listen and follow up what
it is that we also do the miracle has a chance to happen.  The honest part with him
was yours and I see that as recovery behavior.   Looking into the future isn't a
mortal sin.  Doing that while staying right in the present takes practice and that is
what I learned in Al-Alon...."Practice these principles in all my affairs."

Keep up the good work and keep coming back to share the outcomes (((((hugs)))))
