The best gift that Al-anon gives

Someone said this in a meeting last week, and it's been so helpful to me...

Well, I should have written it down because I'm sure I'm getting it wrong, but...


Al-anon allows me to love the addicts in my life. 

Even if I have to block them from my life for awhile.

Even if the rest of the world is saying "How can you put up with this? You should hate him for doing this to you!"

I know that they're loveable, good people, who have a terrible disease.

Because of Al-anon I can love them for the rest of my life.

Hi GNGCRzy

I agree al-anon tools did enable me to Love the person and hate the disease.

Alanon tools also chaged my defination of Love. 

One of the ideas I used and try ODAT to live is that:

 Love does not suffer because of the actions of another, Love walks beside the one who is suffering with compassion,empathy, and respect. 

Alanon taught me how to Love myself first  and then I could reach out to love another
