The Family Groups are fun when they get together in service and support to do something that is positive and serves a recovery purpose. Service has its own rewards, for me fun and more growth. I know the serious side of all of the guys and gals in program here. When things get tough the tough get going and these are tough members when they need to be. "Walkers...not talkers." Then when it comes to a service project like the "Giant Rummage Sale" we had to day to raise funds for our service holders to travel inter-island for service meetings and such the family comes together in such a tight and abiding manner. My family of origin is not near as fun to be with at the people I am in recovery with. My recovering family members have personalities so rich and loving it is somewhat of a let down being home in the quiet now. I swear when this family lets their hair down and isn't being subdued by the disease, it can be pure soul lifting. Yeah we made the budget plus and that means our our district rep and group reps can travel to all service functions without personal expense for program reasons. What we also made were closer spiritual and familial ties under the smiling glance of HP.
It has been raining for a week straight. You would not have noticed it much during the "Giant Runnage Sale" for the Eastside Al-Anon Family Groups.
Heck Jerry, I wish I were there, too, I love the rain there. I have been to al-anon meetings all over the planet and NONE of them compare to the ones I attended in Hawaii. Al anon and aloha are just sooo hand in hand. I miss it so much but HP has me here for now. Thanks for your share and you are right- service together with the AFG family is very cool. Thanks for reminding me of the great ties. Hugs, J.
Your HP wants you there to balance out the planet...LOL Forecast was/is 11 or more days of rain and the last hour average was .6 of an inch in the hour but then that's us.
Final talley of servants and booty...24 servants and just over 1.2K for 8 hours. That'll get us in between islands nicely. AA's get the left overs for their 3 annual roundup just outside of Hilo next weekend. Al-Anon participation on all three days. Right next to the Pacific Ocean...like 30 feet!! The weather will be much better.
Sounds like a wonderful day had by all. I bet the "ole man" hugged all the ladies at least twice, going and coming, with maybe an extra one in between. If you live on the "big Island" (mainland) like most of us you are allowed to complain about the rain all you want. But, for those of us who are blessed to live in Hilo, Hawaii, no complaining about the rain is allowed. LOL
Sounds like alot of fun. I love a good rummage sale. I love service work. Giving back and paying it forward is so important.
It's been raining here too. We actually had a rumble of thunder this morning. A sure sign that spring is on the way. I have to confess that as much as I love the winter, I am ready to put my snowshoes away and see the flowers come up. Besides Pipers is getting way too frisky just to be an indoor cat. Prime mousing season is approaching. I become the trampoline in the morning when she's ready to be let out. She doesn't get the idea that at 3am she has to wait 4 more hours till the sun comes out. Daylight savings time really dinks with her (and me too). Here's hoping you find sunshine real soon. Much love and blessings to you and your family.
Live strong, Karilynn & Pipers Kitty
