Testing times

The events of the last 10 days re my Ason have been testing to say the least.

He called us for help (which we took seriously, as he's extremely stubborn and protective of his disease and never asks for help) and we (husb & I) have been in discussions with the people in his assisted housing as to what is best for him now.

It looks like in order for him to qualify for rehab again he will have to come home...the current assisted housing he is in is classed for homeless vunerable people....and sadly if you are classed as homeless you don't get the same level of priority of care as you would if you have a stable background.

We have just arrived home from a 200 mile round trip to visit him and his carers' today... the long and short of it being we have proposed that if they can get him into a clinic for a 2 or 3 week rehab to detox and stabalise him he can then come home which means he will be then be eligible for rehab.

I don't know where this is all going to go.

My 1st stop in getting home tonight is to be with you my friends here and my next stop is my f2f on Wednesday.

Goodnight in exhaustion....Ness

Hello Ness,

Thanks for sharing your difficult journey.  I am glad you are back home with some positive options available for your son.  We all seem to be at the mercy of the Health Care System.

Rest, take it one day at a time, and Let Go and Let God.

I am praying for your family.

Thanks everyone.....I am trying to keep me in mind through all this.

As I sit here writing I'm thinking what I would like right now is to be on an all expenses paid holiday to a warm and sunny exotic island where I would sway in a hammock, sip delicious cocktails and then be massaged into blissfull sleep by handsome eunuchs. AAAAAhhhhh.

As always, appreciate your support....love Ness.

He called us saying he wants to detox and get into rehab.

If he leaves his current housing, his place is then given to someone else as he will be classed as moving on into treatment.....so he has to make sure a rehab place will be offered to him before things progress further. Once he knows what's what, ie, offer of a place, funding found etc. he will be required to relinquish his current tenancy, be placed in detox and onwards from there.

I suppose, if I'm honest, bottom line is I'm scared of him leaving the place he's in, coming home and then refusing, when the time comes, to go to rehab.

So I'm taking it day by day. There's a meeting with his Dr. and various others' tomorrow to see what can be done.

Tonight I'm off out with a friend to see Slumdog Millionaire.....looking forward to it.

Ness
