I so believe in things happening for a reason. Just like how the book Getting THem Sober arrived in my mailbox the day my AH started drinking again and I was faced with having to deal with it. It was my miracle. It could have come any other day...but it came then. Then today, while at work, my nurse manager came over and handed me a letter from a patient that I took care of July 2008. The letter was written in AUgust 2008 and never mailed to me. WHen a family member was cleaning the house....she found the letter and mailed it to me. I received it TODAY. A letter written 6 months ago....arrived today. Today was a bad day for me. I still hadn't heard from my AH, who is actively drinking on a binge for days now. He was nowhere to be found. I was trying to hold it together.............when my boss handed me this letter. It was a thank you letter thanking me for the wonderful care I gave. It lifted me right up.
yes, what a great post! thank you for it. Sometimes it isnt even that "solid" for me- a glance from a child or stranger that is full of compassion and love, the song of a cardinal as I am walking- all of these small precious gifts are all around us at all times if we can just open our eyes and open our minds and open our hearts. The miracles and love are right here, right now- thank you for your wonderful post. Hugs, J.
I am a huge fan of Getting them Sober. I think that book really helped me to grasp the disease. I am so glad that you find divine inspiration around you. Mine comes from my pets who provide so much love, care and companionship. They always make me smile.
