Mahalo for the responses to HALT

I'm going to try the valenian and the lavender suggestions...they sound good
and I like teas anyhow.  Nothing wrong with resting how ever sleeping gets
energy level back up to where I can work. I've gotten some "synthetic" long
sleep over the past couple days and even felt like finishing some labor I have
had on the books for a while.  The meditation and prayer suggestions are
also regular suggestions for me as I know that works.  I hasn't worked with
my mind running by itself on it's own speed with it's own bizzare subject
matter and volume switch set to unbearably loud.  I'm not talking about
thinking thoughts I'm thinking about "Exorsist" kind of theatrics.  It doesn't
scare me however the subject matter is beyond "just crazy".

HP? of course HP...!!  Often times I will...just before going to sleep; ask my
HP to let me enter HP's world and hang out there while my body sleeps.  You
know spirit to spirit without the body envolved.  When my mind isn't watching
the macabre stuff lately that's the best way and place for me.

Still open minded on the subject.

Again thanks much and Love in return... (((((hugs))))) smile

Don't over-do the lavendar, it can be too strong and too much is known to have adverse effects - my sister-in-law is a herbalist.

However, Chamomile tea is gentle and refreshing and delicate. You know it compliments meditation and relaxation.

Can I remind you of visualisation - visualise yourself in the arms of your HP and resting peacefully. Sleeping like a baby in His care. I know you can do this visualisation: just let yourself be drawn into that place.  One step further than just asking, go there. smile.gif

I am finding I do this more and more as I do not want "drug" induced sleep from sleeping prescriptions. I have enough foreign chemicals in my body, and I am cutting down on them too.

I am into alternatives that are NON-invasive. Here's a few simple and effective Acupressure tips:

1) ANKLES - Using thumbs, press and hold for one minute as you breathe deeply.

Relief/prevention of insomnia, hypertension and anxiety: Joyful sleep - directly below the inside of the ankle bone in a slight indentation.

Relief of and prevention of insomnia and back pain: Calm sleep - In the first indentation directly below the outer ankle bone.
(NB - ANKLE one is probably easier to do sitting not lying.)

2) HEAD and BREAST BONE - again, using right middle finger tip and left hand finger tips, press and hold for one minute as you breathe deeply.

Relief of insomnia: - right middle fingertip in between your eyebrows in the indentation between the bridge of your nose and your forehead. and at the same time position left hand finger tips on indentation of your breastbone at the level of your heart. Close your eyes and breathe deeply for one minute.
(NB: Very good to do once you are preparing for bed and lying down in a relaxed, comfy and warm bed as part of your bedtime routine.)

Both these acupressure techniques HAVE BEEN WONDERFUL FOR MY BACK and my sleep. Hope they work for you.

Lots of love coming your way.

Hi Jerry,

My best ESH is meditation.

I do it twice a day, about 20 minutes each time. Once in the morning, right when I roll out of bed, and again before I go to bed.

I light a candle, I sit upright in a chair. The goal is to empty my thoughts and focus on my breath. Practicing this is becoming a wonderful discipline for controlling my thoughts, but it takes practice, practice, practice. (I think you once wrote that meditation helps you catch some zzzzz's!!!) I actually feel wonderfully alert during meditation, however afterwards, I can sleep like a rock. I am also able to function without anxiety meds because I practice every day. Great news for me, since meds always came with side-effects.

It helps me to begin the practice with a visualization, of seeing myself happy, joyous and free....

Sometimes it helps me to watch the candlelight for about 2 minutes. Then imagining that light come into the forehead, settling into the Third Eye....

Mostly, I observe my breath. Sometimes, I think of the in-breath as my HP entering. The out-breath is letting go of my ego (and my unwanted thoughts)....

Other than that, I'd love to try foot reflexology on you!! Gonna need a plane ticket though!!!

I love ya ((((Jerry))))
