Is there someplace my A Hubby and I can go to that is "recovery" oriented? Like and AA/Alanon Spa Weekend or something. Something where we can get away together as a couple and focus on "recovery together" and not just vacation and forget about it? I am SO open to suggesions. I am going to look into a Christian Cruise, but I would like some sort of immediate!
What an interesting question Tonya!! Are you meaning a "working it" vacation? There are lots of places you can go that have program for you and your alcoholic. We have lots of meetings here on the Big Island and some of them are out doors right next to the Pacific Ocean. Then too we have the indoor variety also. Weather's good with the exception of the VOG...(smoke from the volcano that can get thickesh) and travelers and vacationers are down because of the you know what...so lots of the scenery can be uncrowded right now. Tis also a good time to get good room and travel rates. Although we're protective of our culture we do work Aloha as throughly as our program because it is our program. We give hugs real good. Attendence can get large at my Saturday and Sunday home (AA) meetings. Last Sunday the attendance was 78 with more along the fringe. We love large families!!
I have also enjoyed meetings in Tahoe (of course not far from the water) and the West Coast.
Jerry- someday my AH and I are gonna come visit you and your beautiful island of recovery.
Tonya- When AH and I were taking a little road trip to Montana, we ooked on the web sites for AA, NA, and Al- Anon and found meetings in the area we were going. Maybe you could try doing it backwards. Look into the AA and Al-Anon Area websites in any area you would be interested in visiting and find one that has something special going on. Example: This summer our district had a Fri-Sun 12 step workshop. It was wonderful. A bunch of us from our group went up there and spent the night in a motel and had a blast working our program. If you search AA or Al-Anon on the web, you can always find info on the larger Areas goings on.

There are sober cruises. You could also go to a weekend convention. Most of them have an al anon component. I think personally that would be a lovely vacation.
