Why?

I don't understand why I keep acting like a 2 year old whenI know the consequences. Furthermore, I don't know until after the fact how to enact any positive change.

I can only share my experience and tell you that for me changing behavior patterns and defense mechanisms that I have carried with me for years and years is not an overnight process......I thought I was going to start this program, hop, skip and jump my way to step 12 and be "all better"-lol........There is no quick fix......it takes patience, time and practicing to learn new behavior patterns.
Don't be to hard on you.......the mere fact that you are recognizing the behavior slips even AFTER you engage in them says that you are changing already...after time in the program you will catch them before they happen.....Practice patience and take care of you..........You are doing fine......
It works if you work it~

Hi there,
I relate to what you're going through and sometimes it's hard to put the brakes on the wounded child behaviour. I'm looking forward to growing up emotionally and enjoying a more fulfilling life. Thanks for sharing.

Hi,

Interesting that you posted this today, as I just wrote a related quote on an index card to keep posted in my view. It is from Courage To Change pg. 3. The parts that really spoke to me stated

" I can do nothing to change the past except stop repeating it in the present.

" No one can make me change. No one can stop me from changing. No one really knows how I must change, not even I. Not until I start. I will remember that it only takes a slight shift in direction to begin to change my life."

Good stuff.

Blessings,
Lou
