Looking back or looking forward

Happy New Years (((((my friends))))),

This past year I had a calendar that gave me daily reflections and so I thought I'd share some of the really good ones to give consideration to:

The biggest room in the world is the room for improvement.

Religion is but one tree with many branches.

Before you speak, ask yourself: is it kind, is it necessary, is it true, does it improve on the silence?

By looking deeply at things just as they are, in this moment, here and now, the seeker lives calmly and freely.

The resistance to the unpleasant situation is the root of suffering.

Every man or woman, however weak in body, is the guardian of his or her self-respect and liberty.

If your mind isn't clouded by unnecessary things, this is the best season of your life.

God's many names are countless and countless are the aspects under which He can be considered.  Name Him with any name and worship Him in the form you like best, you are sure to reach Him.

I laugh when I hear that the fish in the water is thirsty.  I laugh when I hear that men go on pilgrimage to find God.

Society cannot be changed unless man changes.

Hate the sin and love the sinner.

An inch of time is an inch of gold: treasure it.  Appreciate its fleeting nature -- misplaced gold is easily found, misspent time is lost forever.

The perfect man uses his mind as a mirror. It grasps nothing, it rejects nothing. It receives but does not keep.

Only a vessel that is half-full can be shaken.

The outward freedom that we shall attain will only be in exact proportion to the inward freedom to which we may have grown at a given moment.  And if this is a correct view of freedom, our chief energy must be concentrated on achieving from within.

This is one of my favorites:  Doubt is a pain too lonely to know that faith is his twin brother.

Which one do you like and why?  I look forward to your responses.

Happy 2009
Maria

I like that one the best. It seems pretty wise. And I do think that God is wihin each of us.

Happy New Year to you too (((((((((((Maria)))))))))))

and
Doubt is a pain too lonely to know that faith is his twin brother.

Both these speak volumes to me.

WHY? so many times words are spoken which do not enrich either the SPEAKER or the LISTENER and the quality of the silence is ignored; whilst DOUBT is such a NEGATIVE and vile character that can destroy FAITH in a millesecond. Change the order and put FAITH first and recognise that FAITH can destroy DOUBT with a wonderfully POSITIVE outcome.

I choose FAITH over DOUBT each time, (even if I do have to battle at times and find courage), for I know that by GRACE I WILL find WISDOM and SERENITY and act accordingly, thanks to my FAITH.

Thank you for this post today, I needed to read ALL of THEM. Each have wisdom in them and deserve contemplation.

Love in bundles coming your way,
Suzannah

An inch of time is my favorite, it is so very true....I would like to have one more inch of time with Chuck.   Hate the sin not the sinner what true words, sometimes that one is hard to see.

Love ya Maria,
Have a Wonderful New Year,
Andrea

I am working on not being so upset that I spent so many years with the A. I feel absolutely drained to the point of not having the energy to breathe some days and I am almost 2 years out.
