Just something I wanted to share. I wrote down the sentence "You are not a victim, you are a volunteer" on a piece of paper which is on my computer desk. An alanon member told me this the other day. My bf read it and asked me where I got it from. I wasn't about to explain to him what it meant because I know that A's don't get alanon and alanon's don't get AA and that's just the way it is.
So I just smile about it and know that I'm not alone.
OMG! I just posted about being sick of emotional abuse!!! This phrase in your post is WONDERFUL! Bwahahah! I'm not a victim, I'm a "volunteer!" Oh, no!
This is really good. I want to frame it and put it in my house where I will see it daily.
Thanks for sharing it.
In recovery,

I was listening to Mya Angelo on the radio today and she said something along the lins of "don't be a victim because then the bullies will know where to find you." I am paraphrasing obviously but the idea really stuck me. It seems along the same lines as the law of attraction.
I have been a victim and it is an awful feeling of helplessness. It was empowering to know that I have choices.
