New Member Here.........

I just joined MIP this morning.  I am looking forward to everything that is offered here.  I also hope my past and present experiences that I have survived by living with a severe alcoholic can help other members as well.

Cordovian,

Welcome to MIP. Glad you are here. I am sure your experiences will help others. I hope members here can share some of their experience, strength, and hope that will benefit you as you live daily with and active alcoholic.

The disease of alcoholism is progressive and continues until it destroys the spirit and health of everything it touches. We who have lived with the disease of alcoholism can relate to what you are going through.

In Al-Anon the #1 thing we learn is to take care of ourselves first. You made a good first step coming to this board where you will find caring, loving and understanding people who have walked in your shoes. Many of us, me included, are still walking in those shoes.

No one here will give you advice as to what you should do. Some will offer suggestions, their ESH. I do not know if you presently attend Al-Anon face to face meetings. If you do, great, if you do not then it would be the very best thing you could do for yourself. Type in "first Al-Anon meeting" in the search bar at the top of this page and see what others have experienced at their first f2f meeting. I can honestly say when I walked through those doors over 2 years ago, it was one of the best decisions of my life. In those rooms you will learn how to take care of yourself. You deserve it!!!

Yours in Recovery,

HUGS,
RLC

Welcome Cordovian from a fairly new member. I have found great comfort and support on this site, sometimes just by reading other's posts! I never realized the vast sea of esh out there until I turned to Alanon! Keep coming back!

Aloha Cordovian and welcome to the MIP family!!

You don't ever have to feel alone and unloved again because you have
family you didn't know existed before who have all been thru what you
are going thru now.  Some if not all have stood the watch while the
alcoholic drank toward that predicted fatal ending.  You haven't cause it,
cannot control it or cure it.  The best you can do is take your hands off
of it turn your palms upward and offer your alcoholic and the disease up
to your Higher Power.  Having a power greater than yourself is sooo
necessary.  If you need help with that or any other healing from this
disease...continue to reach out.  We do what it is that we suggest and
because of that know what has worked for us.  We also know it has
worked with others because it has been others who have led us here
also and for that we are recovering and passing it on to others.

Keep coming back and while you are at it go to the white pages of
your local telephone book and look for the hotline number to the Al-Anon
Family Groups in your area and call for information on the meeting places
and times.  This program will save your peace of mind and much more.

(((((hugs))))) smile

Welcome!

Good to have you here.  I know even reaching out takes courage.  Finding your face to face meeting and attending the first time will too.  I liked looking at it as a new beginning because everything I had tried in the past wasn't working and I was becoming more frightened and more insane.

I love no longer having to keep things that went on at my house a secret.  Finally realizing there are others out there who understood and cared.

I love that being human is acceptable and I no longer had to pretend to be perfect in all things.

I love that you have joined us and will also allow yourself the chance to become healthy.

I look forward to meeting you and working this program along side you.
