My youngest AD had to take me to the ER at 5 this morning. I haven't been that sick in years and thought I was going to die. Some intestinal virus is going around, and I started vomiting and getting diarrhea around 11 last night. I ended up cramping so bad I was crying and had bloody diarrhea. I was on an IV for 4 hours and I don't remember how many meds they gave me until the dry heaves finally stopped (I had nothing left in my stomach by then).
They also gave me some heavy duty antibiotics in the IV, and I've got two scripts Amber has to pick up for me, more antibiotics (that I can start tomorrow once my stomach is settled for good) and more anti-nausea meds. Thank God she doesn't work till 6 tonight so she'll be able to get the zoo crew fed for late meal before work and I can continue to rest.
I'm still really groggy and my head is pounding, but nothing out either end since I've gotten home. I feel really weak right now. Prayers would be appreciated. That was really scary because I haven't been that sick since before my stomach surgery 3 years ago.

Just went thru something similar and not even close to what you describe. Got you in my mind and heart...places where my HP goes to find "to do" lists.
wow, that sounds incredible! So swiftly it took you over, like a wave! You know you are in my prayers every single day but especially so now, dear one. Rest well and know there is so much love for you here. Get better soon! Hugs, J.
Well I managed to sleep comfortably for several hours. Thank God youngest AD was here to tend animals, and pick up meds. I also had her pick up some chicken broth and gatorade.
I took an anti-nausea pill and got the broth down and am sipping gatorade. So far, so good. I think I might be able to tackle a nice hot shower and fresh pajamas as I'm not nearly as dehydrated/dizzy since they filled me with fluids in ER!
That horrible cramping is gone. That was the absolute worst. I think a good scrub in the shower and then back to bed to cuddle with my zoo crew and watch some tv will be just what the doctor ordered.
God bless all for your prayers. ((((hugs))))

Drinking real ginger ale helps so much. I drink it warm. Having digestive disease I sure relate and feel for you. I am not kidding, nothing feels better than my basset Tavish warm against my tummy, my piggy lowlee spoons too.
So what is your address and I will send you a basset or a potted pig, your choice! (o:
Be careful to eat easy to digest stuff. I tell ya healthy toasted bread or just a good bread only is nice when you are sick I always crave no sugar grape juice and popcicles/and or sorbet. I don't eat chicken noodle soup anymore but use that for sick piggies and whoever.
I love Amys not chicken noodle soup.
Take care of you. I sure hope it heals up soon. Go easy. love, debilyn

Oh Debilyn, thanks for the laugh! I needed that today. I think I would like to cuddle with a potted pig or basset! I love that name, Tavish!
I ended up with the greyhound, golden retriever mix, my 15 1/2 year old lab mix, and my little boxer mix who was very sick and just home from the vet's last week, and Velcro kitty right beside my face to keep me warm last night!
Staying on clear liquids today and started my antibiotics. I still feel very weak and expect it will take time to get back on my feet, so I will work very hard to rest rest rest!
We had a cold front come through mid-night, and the windchill is below zero, so it's a good day to just stay inside snuggled with the zoo crew and recuperate.
Thank you everyone for your good thoughts!
