My home group meeting room is so COLD, everything white or some shade of white. We are seriously considering painting and cleaning to make the room more homey instead of so sterile.
The floor which is the only thing that has any color at all in it is a tile that is shades of grey...another sterile non descript color.
The room is approximately 15x24 and needs something to break up the long walls.
If you could pick the paint color, what color would you pick?
what is the color of the room your f2f meets in?

Fun!!!!! How I love being ASKED for my advice...LOL
I would pick the "Color of Joy"... Yellow! A soft, pale, warm whisper of yellow. I think that is what our HP ultimately wants us to feel. Although not everyone is joyful when they come in, the warmth of yellow might feel welcoming.
Wow, I go to a variety of meetings and most are just like yours... white and gray! Ha! I wonder why this is...?
Good luck decorating your meeting! Love, gladlee

Orange and shades of orange are said to be where people tend to gather. Personally, I love strong colors. Anything bold and different is where I feel comfortable. My home is full of color and always has been.
Blues and greens have traditionally been said to soothe.
It wouldn't be black or white or a compination of those cause I (for me) would probably spend more time on the floor. Since I don't do black or white anymore and live in Hawaii...lots of mixes of yellows, oranges, reds, browns, blues...can you do flowers and rainbows on another back ground? Butterflies are good!
I did speak to a member of the club committee today while I was there measuring and I sure am glad I was there when I was because the Al-Anon room was the next room on their list to paint. Told him I would bop the first person that walks in there with a can of white paint. Wanna guess who has been asked to serve on the Club Committee?
Jerry you gave me a great idea. I'm going to look for some wallpaper that has butterflies on it. After we paint the room we could take the cut out wallpaper butterflies and paste them to the wall. Not too many just a few here and there would work. What a GREAT idea.
I don't know if we can post pictures here or not but I can put a link to them here. I'll take some before and after shots and share with everyone.
Still no decision on a color yet but I'm working on it. I was leaning towards a sort of sea mist green which is a light green light blue mix. It is very calming. BUT the yellow sounds good too. OH GOSH so many decisions..."HP I could use some help on this one."

lighting matter as much or more than wall color- is the lighting soothing? One of the things that is so jarring are the fluorescent lights in so many of those places...geesh! But usually the feeling around the table or around the circle makes the whole room disappear anyway! hugs, J.
hi, I like your green/blue idea as blue is soothing an that green is health. Are their windows? My daughter the artist she is, painted her windows, the panes and the space inside, yellow. It was like sunshine coming in.
I had a classroom with no windows. So What I do is get old wood window frames and hang them yellow with material curtains with greens blues yellows etc. Like Jer said, all colors.
I am a pastel person as it is again soothing, relaxing. I run from reds, oranges, dark pink etc. BUT the butterflys etc could be incorporated with all the colors.
Makes me want to sheet rock in here, texture and paint! would love to see what you do. love, deb
Hmm- sounds like a great project to me! I have a couple of spare bedrooms that could use some work ;)
My aunt has made use of soft yellows on her walls and large print blue gingham valances. Combined with the warm tones of her hardwood floors, her home is both soothing and cheerful.
We are doing ok on the light issue I think. The room actually has four windows in it. For the night meetings it's almost too many windows.
Al-Anon meets at one end of the building and AA at the other. Occasionally we have somebody new to AA that has a panic attack and ends up walking back and forth outside the windows which upsets some people in the Al-Anon room. So I have to figure out a clever way to be able to block out the windows during a meeting if necessary.
Can't wait to get started on this one.

Whichever color your group selects I wish for you peace and harmony for working so hard to create a welcoming atmosphere. Curtains are cheery too, lol. This post slays me.
My preference would be a light shade of sage green and the window s -well a roll of paper that is made for windows ,just on the bottom pane makes windows look frosted but cannot see in and is easily removed it just peels off . and it still lets in lots of light . Louise
My mother painted a kitchen one time with a very, very pale yellow. It was really nice.
I painted a bedroom with a really light peach color once and really liked that. They could both be accented in the light sage color someone else mentioned. Maybe a pretty sky blue for the ceiling, too.
If the money is there, blinds can be ordered for the windows to match or accent the colors you are using and can be dialed open, closed or halfway in between in an instant.
