The Shack

Hi (((Family)))

Coming off a couple of days of being sick..again..ugh.  Return of the Stomach Virus!  shudder shudder  smile

I took the opportunity to read a book.  I picked this book up the other day at Costco.  I like "scarey" stories, and the cover of this book shows a rickety old shack surrounded by snow so it caught my attention.  The title of the book is "The Shack" by Wm. Paul Young.

Welp, it was not what I expected it was going to be at all.

I don't usually recommend non-CAL literature on this board, but this time I feel compelled.

I have never read anything that more completely demonstrates the process of forgiveness and healing.  I found myself reading "program" ideals throughout the book cleverly woven into a "story" of a man's dealing with a horrible loss.  And it all centers around his truly coming to believe and trust in a power greater than himself.

If you run across this book somewhere, give it a look.

I wish I could send a copy to all of you, but alas I have not the resources...smile, but I will be giving it as Christmas gifts to my family and friends down here this year!

Have a great Saturday everyone.  I am especially fond of you all!

Yours in Recovery,
David

Sending get well wishes to you David. Hope you will not have
any more illness for the rest of the year.

My sis in another state just read The Shack and recommended it also and
now I know why with your summary.  I think she stumbled on to it too,
maybe it is one of those books that is a hp moment. "here pick this one"
We have loss of parents and my sis has loss of spouse too all in the last
3 years.  Thanks for the reminder of what my next book can be.

hugs, ddub

David, Get well, stay well.
You're the second person to recommend the book The Shack to me, so I think I'd better snag a copy.

:)
Here's to you ...and Doris.

David,

OMG...from the moment I read your post I knew I had to read the book you mentioned.  I also was so trusting of your choices, I went so far as to recommend it to two of my  sisters who live in other states.

Here's the kicker in less then 24 hours each of them had been recommended that same book by other close friends.  Odd you say?  (Not likely).  One sis wants to get hers in CD form, the other sis put her name on the library list in her town to read (she's in a line behind 134 others).

Personally I had to have it after reading the first chapter and foreward here online via your post.  OMG,  amazing....very deep, very interesting, yet told in human terms!! I too would love to see everyone read it. Thank you for the heads up.  I'll give you feed back once I've finished it. (Already half way through) So inspiring!
