I love this program!

Thanks to this program I had a great thanksgiving with my family and friends.  It was a wonderful day full of fun and laughter and great food.  Thanks to al-anon I have a great plan for christmas as well.  I chose to spend it with a very special friend who I love who I have not seen in a couple of years.  I cannot wait.  It will be great, too.  Thanks to this program I have learned that I create my own bliss and happiness and I chose fun and I make my own party instead of waiting around for others to invite me.  It always turns out for the best when I make my own plans with good people who appreciate and love me just as I am. Life sure is sweet.  Happy Gratitude DAY!  Hugs, J.

I am right there with ya sistah!!!! So happy you had a peaceful, fun filled holiday!!!

It was just the kids and I here and I made everything WE like and we ate on the good china and then we went to the movies (where we had the whole theater to ourselves!) and then to my best friend's house for pie, where I witnessed adults having a glass of wine. No one was drunk, no one was screaming or crying, no one was falling down and NO ONE thought that it was a strange miracle that no one was drunk!!!

And when I tucked the kids into bed, the little one said "I really liked our Thanksgiving Mom, We did everything our own way AND we had the whole theater for ourselves!!!! Just like princesses!!!!"

What a gift that my kids saw our hoilday as special and wonderful rather than as lacking.

Cherishing what we do have and being thankful all the way around!!!!

We had a really nice day as well. We had dinner with my mother and everybody contributed to the making of it. My Ah made chocolate pies, I did stuffing, green beans, and yams, Mom did the turkey, My 8 yo son helped her stuff it. Even the baby (2yrs old) helped me tear the bread and mix the stuffing. It was awesome. No fussing, no drama. Just a nice amazing day.

I have so much gratitude for the program an all of you who helped make it happen.

In recovery,

You three girls gave me a big Al-Anon smile. You have to be one to know what that smile feels like.

What a program!!! (If you practice it)

Jean, thanks for the example. I am learning too. It isn't what it use to be. Looking to new friends to enjoy the holidays. Even AA/Alanon people are becoming friends to do things with. Looking to Christmas to do something different.

In support,
Nancy

Good for you!  I am glad things worked out for you.  I have a better time than I had last year but I want the next holiday to not be about me "doing" for others.
Maresie.

Way to go (((((Jean))))),

You are richly deserving of all goodness and serenity (and a little fun mixed in there with all that other stuff).

yours in recovery,
Maria

Jean,

I hear ya and I am finally getting it this holiday time too.
Feels so good doesn't it.  I like that saying that this is
my new normal.  You are doing great and I can relate to
this new glee or joy that is part of making our own choices
to find serenity and peace.

hugs, ddub
