reacting to "I'm sorry" & the 3 Cs

This is just me - I see "I'm sorry" in response to something  causingone of us to struggle. When I see that, I think - well, you didn't cause it so you don't need to be sorry. You didn't cause it and you can't change it. Do any of you ever hear the disembodied voice in the phone prompt tell you it's sorry it could not understand your response? Sorry?
I understand empathizing with each other's troubles ,and so many of us have felt the same feelings with our own issues. It's a great comfort for me to know I'm not alone in this issue that made me feel like the one-of- a-kind freak on earth before I came to Al-anon. So I like the emotion behind I'm sorry, but I cringe.
Mostly thank you for making it safe to get this off my head. It's just my noise.

You brought up one of my pet peeves , I detest the word I'm sorry , especially when there is no change in behavior either on my part or someone elses. I'm sorry is empty if nothing changes .  I no longer apologize for things I didnt do and can apologize for those I did .   Louise
