Lightbulb moment -- duh!!

I finally get the concept of taking the focus off the A and placing it on myself.  For some reason, I always thought of it as the focus being on him during our interactions.  Then I realized I have a strong tendency to think about him, almost to the point of obsession. We're separated but I began to realize that I focus on him even when we're apart. During these times I'm not thinking about self-care, being gentle with myself, working my program etc. I am still caught up in the disease.  Even before this realization I asked myself where am I? -- Now when I go down the rabbit hole that leads me to thinking about A I will ask myself who am I focusing on right now?  What a revelation and relief.

Aloha Curlee!!

Great post and awareness.  The same awareness applied to the other side of
the fence is called, "being under the influence."  When the alcoholic and or
addict obsesses about drinking, feels compulsed to drink, is drunk or has a
hangover...They are under the influence of the chemical and disease.  They use
the bottle and we use...?

Keep coming back.  (((((hugs))))) smile

Hi Curlee!!!

Congratulations!!  Those moments of sudden clarity...spiritual awakenings... are one of the greatest gifts this program has given me too.

Keep coming back!  Sorta like the energizer bunny, those moments keep coming, and coming and coming........biggrin

Great post! Thanks for sharing. I find myself thinking about the A too even when I'm not with him. It can be consuming at times. But it's a good reminder to put the focus back on myself and caring for me.
