wow, I have been in groups where we do spaghetti suppers, etc. auction off baskets. I have heard of this alot. I think that I could put some cash in an envelope and it would be anonymous. Jean
Yeah, Jean me too. Our alateens just had a bake sale for their conference. They only sold to the AA's and us. I think it is fine for us to raise money as long as we are not getting corporate sponsers or getting freebies from people not in the program.
Anonimity is not just about not telling who you see at meetings. It is about keeping the ego in check. We decline outside contributions so that no one can tell us how to run our groups. The traditions are a really incredible guideline not only for our groups but also for our own lives.
If I had been living by the 7th tradition I would be much farther along finacially than I am today. When my mother "contributes" to me, she feel she has every right to "run" me and that causes major problems.
Personally, I would love to buy a tee shirt or sweatshirt with some of our slogans or funny sayings that we have come up with over the years. No promotion, just attraction!
