hurricane hits KY

We've had many tornadoes hit Kentucky, but this week we were hit by Hurricane IKE.  Sunday morning we had 30 to 50 MPH sustained winds for about 4 hours. There were gusts of 70 MPH. We had no rain and it was fairly sunny...jsut wind. It blew off roofs, blew down thousands of trees and powerlines. We had no electricity for 4 days. There are still 4100 without power here. over 70 % of my town had no power.

It's times liek this when you appreciate the little things. Yesterday I had no power (got it back in the afternoon)  I went to the gym for the first time. It was so WONDERFUl to get to go PEe with a LIGHT ON instead of a flashlight on the sink.  LOL

It also makes me appreciate that I don't live in Louisiana or Texas. They ahve it worse than we did!

And what does this have to do with ALANON?  I had to spend 4 days in close proximity with a bi-polar hubby who was not drinking and he was frustrated when some neighborhoods and businesses got power and we did not. I was quite "grouchy"> I walking on eggshells all week. I was so glad we got to go back to school yesterday and even happier when I got my pwer back last night.

It gives the term POWERLESS a whole new dimension!

So glad you have power or should I say "electricity" - ha ha ha

My Dad lives in KY & he said we could keep those Hurricanes back in Louisiana where they belong (in a joking way) He is a special needs patient so gratefully he was only without power for about 8 hrs.

Peeing in the dark is vwery scarwey!!

Be Safe!
HUGS,
Rita

Wow, what a storm. Love the "powerless" analogy.

In support,

I feel your pain! I live in South Louisiana. Houma to be exact...that is where Gustav made landfall. Then 1 week later, Ike came in and flooded the Southern Part of Louisiana.

Anyways....I evacuated with my A HUBBY, A Mother and A brother in law. Strange thing...normally, I try o evacuated from them.

Anyways...we were very lucky...its times like this when we do count our blessings.
