Soaring with The Eagles

((((Family))))

Last night I got to fulfill one of my "bucket list" items, lol.  I have wanted to see The Eagles in concert since...well since their were Eagles to see! smile

Last night I did it! smile

Drove to San Antonio, had a nice dinner then on to the venue!  When I got there, and found the seats, I was a bit disappointed, I had not purchased the lowest price level tickets, but the seats were waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy up in the top of the ATT center.  I grumbled initially for a few minutes, heard others grumbling around me, then decided it is what it is, and I am not gonna sit here and stew about it, but decided I would enjoy my "eagle's eye" view of the proceedings.

And enjoy it I did.  Those guys are better than ever.  Still got the voices, and their musicianship just blows me away.

I sang myself horse.  I cheered.  I whistled.  I bounced around in my seat.  I only cried one time...during "Take it to the Limit".  smile  Haven't even had time to analyze what the significance of that song was, but I am sure it had a lot to do with me and my best friends driving to out of town dances 20 something years ago and singing along with the Eagles.  We always listened to them when driving because we all knew the words, and we loved to sing harmony with them.smile

I took a friend with me and I told her as we were eating dinner, that I felt nervous about something and couldn't figure out what it was.  I dug in there as we sat there and found it.  The last big concert I went to (The Rolling Stones) I took my ex-wife.  She was drunk before we got there, and was trying to bum hits off marijuana cigarettes behind my back (literally) while we were there.  Kinda funny now, she sitting to my right, and dude sitting to my left with the pot, her arm going across my back, me turning seeing her hand tapping the guys shoulder, arm going "home" me turning right, her looking straight ahead with a "what?" look on her face, me immediately deciding I didn't see and feel what I just saw and felt.  Ahhhh Denial, it ain't just a river in Egypt folks! biggrin  I was a nervous wreck that time, and really didn't enjoy the show much.

I remembered something I heard a speaker say once when referring to some lingering anxieties he had from a prior relationship when he later remarried.  Hold over stuff, like I was experiencing.  His sponser told him in regards to his new wife.."She isn't her (the ex)".  Simple.  And I just told myself that too, and truly settled down.  And enjoyed myself immensely.

I got home at 2:30 am and am playing hooky from work this morning biggrin, but it was worth the late bed time.

If you are fan, and have the chance....go see the concert.

Yours with a Peaceful, Easy, Feeling,
David

Sounds like you had a great time David - Now I have all those great Eagles songs in my head!!

I can relate to the anxiety over previous events carrying to present day too - I recently heard a speaker share that she prays for her God to help her stay focus in the here and now - mentally, physically and emotionally.

That prayer has really helped me struggle thru some of those trigger memories.

ok - off to sing away the afternoon (geez I hope no one in the office hears me)

HUGS,
Rita

David, "Take it to the Limit" has always been my favorite Eagles song. I have listened to it hundreds of times. I continue to get different meanings from the song each time I hear it. I have decided it depends on the type of mood I am in as to what I get from the song.

Even though I am in the heat of the battle at my business, I'm going to "You Tube" as we speak and listen to the words one more time. Bottom line I think the words have a meaning that is different for everyone.

So, I am going to take it to the limit one more time!! RLC

i love your anecodotes about flashbacks. I flashback on the A all the time. Sometimes I am just so grateful even though I have a difficult time I am no longer dealing with him (this month is one year since I cut him off but I still had contact for a long long time). Some sponsors do indeed know how to make it succint and cut out all drama.  Cut all drama that has to be one of my new slogans.

I am so happy you missed work got all that singing out and had a wonderful time despite the seats!

great share, David. I like how you process your moments here- how you sorted out what was bugging you and dealt with it and moved on- great program stuff. Some day, I will be able to do that with more swiftness, too!! Now it takes me days. But before it took me YEARS so its progress not perfection...thanks for this post. I loved the Eagles too! Hugs, J.

David

Wonderful! Sounds just like a dream fulfilled regardless of your bird's eye view seats!

Now don't jump on me everyone BUT - and - I am ashamed to admit it, who are The Eagles?

However, I have some songs too that have huge memories and effects on me even though they are from years ago.

I am now going to go find The Eagles and listen to your song. There are a lot of things I missed out on in my younger years so I guess it would be fun to make amends.

Intrigued and happy for you.
