Gratitude

Hi All

After a week of turmoil and heartbreak things have taken a turn for the better. After the shock of my partner being advised against a new relationship whilst in recovery and him not being able to tell me to go, things had been very painful for us. We had both been really happy and healthy together and this was a real blow.
I called my partner at his rehab yesterday and insted of a big tearful ,hysterical, showdown (my usual behaviour) it was really good and we were ok.
He continues to do really well and is starting on step 2, he's working really hard and wants his recovery so much, thank God he's got this far.
I managed to have a good healthy conversation with him, we didnt row or hurt each others feelings, no resentment and no blame. He was very open and honest with me and I was to him. I kept the focus on me and my need for honesty. It was good for both of us and I feel stronger for it. We are going to take each day as it comes, have faith in each others love, and desire for his recovery, and not get into the what ifs of the future.
The thing is I couldnt have done this without the help and support I received right here. I just kept thinking on things that Kitty and Jeff had said in their posts, words of wisdom that gave me such strenghth, and for the first time ever for me some Serenity.
I feel I've found a place for me, somewhere to go and find people who understand how hard life for a codependant person can be. Somewhere I can gain insight and recover.

Thanks (((Guys))) your all amazing

Love and Hugs Carol

Sounds like you may be one of the ones who "make it".
You can even if he relapses but sounds like you may make it together- not setting you up for expectations let down only saying good for you!!

Good for you. I've certainly been there and done that with the drama. I'm so glad I'm shedding that skin.
