Necessity is the mother of invention...

I was sitting here looking out the window as it is rainy and fairly chilly today, and now that I am back on foot again, I thought back to the first time I was without a car when my old one went bellyup and I was without transportation for 7 months.

During that time I was buying my dog food in the large 40 pound bags at my vet's office. I only live a block from where his office was, and the walk home was all uphill.

I had already been diagnosed with the degenerative disc disease, had weight limits on what I could lift and had managed a few times to borrow a car to get the food.

So there I was one day very low on food, not even a car to borrow and the light bulb came on!

I still had my youngest AD's baby stroller stuck away in a closet, a nice one where you could lay the back of it down like a bed!

Out it came, I cleaned it up a bit, put on my coat and stocking cap, and off the stroller and I went to my vet's!

Yes, I did get a few strange looks, and the vet's wife made me laugh because she said I should put a baby blanket over the bag of food once she loaded it up for me!

I even took it to the grocery store when I knew I had several things to buy!

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade, and have a few laughs too over that lemonade! biggrin

I LOVE IT DeVon,

Thinking outside the box, not getting resentful, making do with what you have.

Way to go,
Maria

I love this story, DeVon. I had a nice old stroller like that when my oldest was little. It was a sturdy thing that I used all over my muddy bumpy property here when he was small and I had so much to do. I loved that stroller.LOL

Thank you so much for sharing.

great story about counting your blessings instead of cursing your bad luck!! That is what this program is to me: a way to turn all that around and stay on the bright side and be content and live in joy. thanks D, Hugs, J.

I've been working on that as I am in heavy concrete action mode and sometimes I feel so pressed to do it all. I am willing and glad to be in a place where I can be willing.

I didn't learn to drive until my youngest was three - I kept her in her stroller probably longer than usual, just so I'd have the stroller along while running errands!  On the way home, it would be loaded with groceries or whatever, and she would be walking beside it.

A little creative thinking can often get us past those seemingly insurmountable barriers.
