My letter was well received

As some may recall, I was tossing thoughts about in my head about contacting my ex ABF to see how he was doing in rehab.  While ultimately I decided not to call him directly, I did email his brother (who I was always close with) to get an update.  Apparently my ex is doing 'ok' although according to his brother most of his family has backed away during this initial stage of his rehabilitation so that he concentrates solely on his recovery.

In any case, my ex's brother has invited my boyfriend and I to dinner tonight. I'm both excited and nervous.  Not nervous to see my ex's brother, but nervous because it will be odd having him see me with someone other than his brother.  I sorta said that to him, and he said 'trust me, its no big deal. I told you to run the other way from my brother years ago. the only thing that matters is that you are happy'

Mixed emotions here about going, its too late though because I already accepted the invitation.

Mixed feelings seem to come with recovery. I'm not sure personally I would try to be friends with relatives of an Ex A.  At the same time I can understand that its hard to let go.  I'll be interested to hear how this goes for you.

Maresie.

My idea here is this may help you move on. Sometimes revisiting the past helps us see how far ahead we really are.
