Case Dismissed!!!!

Lesson learned here?  None!  Judge dismissed the case without hearing a word of testimony.  Big smile on A's face upon returning home. *sigh*

Well you put in the effort. I went through hell trying to get the A served with a restraining order.  However the fact i filed a restraining order is good for me because if he ever comes around I have that clout with the police department.

Don't give up.

I'm trying to remember if there is actually a patron saint of drunks or if it just seems like it....

It is absolutely amazing, isn't it? My AH got picked up in a neighboring state for DUI twice - they NEVER notified our state. So when he got arrested in our state, he was out with a first offense in three days! (And it only took that long becuase it was over New Year's Weekend). I expected him to go to jail for at least a year..... he spent the weekend there. Have a great time in Hawaii!

Shaking my head in disbelief.  But then again you did say he has a silver tongue.  Love and blessings to you and your family.

Hm. Supposedly St. Arnold is the patron saint of brewers... not really the same thing. And St. Martin is the patron saint of drunks and innkeepers (not clear on the connection there....) - here's the St. Martin story:

St. Martin was of noble birth (whatever that means) & given to drunken debauchery most of his life. Eventually he lost his taste for the booze & acquired one for denatured christianity. So he took to proseletizing with the same zeal that he had once shown for the bottle.

One day he was lecturing the folks in a village about their wicked ways & a goose started honking so loudly that it interfered with his speech. Not to be outdone he ordered the goose slaughtered, & then finished his sermon. Afterward the goose was cooked & served to him.

St. Martin choked to death eating the goose.

This important note from the christian tradition teaches us to be very careful about how we treat our critics.

I am so relieved I do not have to deal with this on an ongoing basis day in day out.  I did for years and it took a colossal amount for me to get out of it. We do get out of it in time. This is one more reminder that people have somethng coming to them over time.  Sometimes it takes years but I do sincerely believe it eventually catches up with them.

It is all very interesting.  He never before had the slightest brush with the law, so he was horrified at this arrest.  He had been sober 25 years, but in the last three years or so goes on a good three-day binge every six months...more or less.  I thought this charge against him along with a verdict of guilty would make an indelible impression and wake him up.  I pray, of course, there will not be a next time.  But...I am not holding my breath.  LOL!!  Meanwhile he is a delightful man in every way. Kind, charming, funny, sensual;  all a woman could ask of a man.

Hope springs eternal......
