Piper is home. The vet called yesterday morning. Her fever had gone down. They still don't know what caused it. They wanted her to stay there until late afternoon so she could finish her IV. I spent some time with her before I went to work. My friend (her benefactress) picked her up and brought her home. It was nice to come home with her there. My neighbor came down to help me give her her pill. She has no appetite, not even for tunafish. I thought she would be famished after not eating. Not so. I took her bandage off her paw where they had the IV. Poor thing. I brought her in bed with me and it was nice to have her close.
This morning she still has not had anything to drink nor eat. This has me concerned. I need to call the vet and see if that's normal. I don't want her to go back in. I opened the door this morning to let fresh air in. She came to the screen and could have cared less. I've never nursed a sick kitty before. I am so hoping she's gonna be okay. I'll feel better when she eats and drinks again.
Please continue to pray for her and me. This emotional rollercoaster I'm on is leaving me exhausted. Work is physically exhausting with the back to school rush on. I took 25,000+ steps yesterday. That's alot, even for me. I can't wait to have the next 2 days off. I so need it. I'm wiped out. Love and blessings to you all and your pets.
Live strong, Karilynn & Pipers Kitty

It's your life. Take no prisoners. You will have it your way.
They have special kitty milk that has all sorts of nutirents and is flavored like meat or fish. Kind of like Ensure for kitties. When our kitties wouldn't eat they would sip at that stuff. One we even gave Ensure (vanilla flavored). I think with her not taking in any liquid the worry will be dehydration. Maybe you should get an eye dropper and squirt some water down her throat. Sometimes that helped my kitties get back in the swing of eating and drinking. Is she a cheese kittie? Mine LOVED cream cheese. I would wrap their pills in a ball of cream cheese. One used to eat right around the pill so I would crush it and mix it in the cream cheese.
Thanks for the update! I am with serendipity ~ intervene with an eye dropper to get some fluids down or a little tuna fish oil or what ever (maybe even ask the vet to feel more reassured about it) but they are so small and dehydration can be a serious problem.
More prayers of healing & protection are on the way! love, -kitty

I send out my love to you. I have 2 little dogs, they are both very old now and they have been with me over the past 14 years through thick and thin, when no one else cared for me they were just there. It is raining here and my little dog is afraid. I comfort her with all my love. I pray that your little kitty makes it though. With love from the bottom of my heart.
was piper eating before she came home? drinking? Hopefully then made sure of that.
Kitty will have to go back on an iv if it does not eat/drink. our organs need to keep working so they don't shut down.
I would go get some chicken broth or make some. KMR is good like someone else suggested.
Then you get a dropper and put it in the side of your kittys mouth. drops at a time.
Please let us know what your vet said. I would get a thermometer and get her temp hon. if her fever was high enough she could have suffered brain damage. This just sounds like she is stil sick still though.
Is her nose stuffy at all? Cats won't eat if they cannot smell. I would get some good quality canned food and put a tiny amount on her tongue, or rub some on her lips. see how she reacts
No this is absolutely not normal and very much cause for concern. Find out if they made sure she would eat before they sent her home.
Did they check her mouth for bad teeth or sores? Does he have anywhere that seems painful to be touched? When you look under her eyelids and gums are they pink? Does her breath smell ok? Has she gone potty at all?
This has to horribly hard on you. You are still so young in your grieving process. big gentle hug holding you!!
Hey are you ok as far as food etc? hugs to you big time, love, debilyn
Karilyn: I have done the feeding with the dropper thing when my cats were dehydrated. I think you can also use that solution for babies that hydrates them. I know it is a struggle.
My cats did come around. The other thing you can get is the kitten milk stuff that comes in a carton. You can drop that on their tongue. My Ruby did go through a hard time when Benny died. She didn't eat and I pulled my hair out worrying about her. I tried all kinds of food. They do seem to like boiled chicken.
I really hope your kitty gets better. I am so sorry you are going through such a hard time. My prayers are with you.
This has to be so hard on you, dear lady. I know she is such a comfort to you and you are to her, too. It sounds like the advice given here might be of some help. I pray so. My kitty was so old and had to take pills. Someone here suggested the cream cheese idea and it worked perfectly. She ate it right down, pill and all.
Please keep us posted when you can.......on both YOU and Pipers. I hope you are eating okay and can get some rest. My heart hurts for you. This is such a painful time. But, there is light at the end of the tunnel. I know you have faith, just tap into it now and let your HP help you and fill you with His grace and comfort.
I am praying for you and Pipers to be surrounded with healing angels.
Love you as you take it one minute at a time, Lexie
