A good day gone bad

While I posted here last night, my abf went to blockbuster and got himself a pint.  He came home barely able to stand and spent the better part of an hour face down on the living room floor.  I have to say that though I was disappointed and shocked, I didnt react!  I felt so proud of me.  I simply went about my business and went to bed.  He did come into the bedroom and kept apologizing to me.  I told him I was not angry, didnt need the apology, but I did need to go to sleep.  I said tomorrow is another day and left it at that.  So after 35 days of sobriety, today is day one again for him, its still day 36 for me!
seeking peace,
jeannie

Way to go, Jeannie. Yes - it's one day at a time - and we only have control of OUR days. It's wonderful that you got to day 36 - and didn't have to start over with him. That's true detachment. Very inspirational.

Keep putting one foot in front of the other - and stay on your path.

Peace,
R3

Nice work and yes, its so inspirational and its incredible how when we do detach we really DONT get angry or need apologies, we just let it all go! And yes, we need our sleep and you did a great job so congrats and nice work- hugs, J.

Way to go Jeannie!

There's a very similar story to yours in the ODAT book about detachment.

Interesting thing is "how do you feel now?"

yours in recovery,
Maria

Wow! way to go Jeannie! Not only have you stayed detached, but you have recognized your own need and asked for it with dignity and respect. That was awesome and truly inspiring.

Keep your own recovery date and write it down. It is as important as his.

when my sponsor asked me for mine, I had to count back on the calender almost 2 yrs to figure it out. When my Al-Anon birthday came up she sent me a 2 yr coin. I am very proud of that coin and it is a constant reminder in my pocket at all times of where I have come from.

In recovery,

((( HUGS J ))) First of all congraguations, I call it working the program. I went back and read one of your posts from July 15th, how far you have come. You could change the title of your post to "A Bad Day Gone Good". You know there is a full grown "Pink Elephant" in your house, I have one in my house. Like you I choose to Not React, Not get mad, Not say something that will only cause a conflict. Walk around the Pink Elephant, pretend it is not there and you don't even see it, be calm, be yourself, work the program, and take care of you. That is what leeds us to serenity, and you got a little piece of it last night. I'm proud of you. RLC

It all comes down to "choice".  You certainly made the right call.  Congrats!
