As I send my five-year-old running back to her bed for the 8th time (make that 9 now) in the past 20 minutes, and my son begins the nightly round of "bedtime flu" I have to remind myself I woke up grateful this morning.
I didn't have to time to post this then, but I woke up with my 7-year-old son on one side of me and my 5-year-old daughter on the other (in my single bed, a tight squeeze). But I distinctly remember thinking, Thank you, God (my HP) for H, for E, for their big sister D (who thankfully stays in her own bed once she goes to sleep), for hot water (I have rheumatoid arthritis and a hot shower is a miracle drug in the morning for me), for indoor plumbing... I'm grateful for electricity at the flip of switch, for a gas stove that heats up in minutes, for a comfortable bed, and a safe roof under which to raise my three children. We certainly have our day-to-day challenges to face, but I am so grateful I have what I do....
I had to laugh when you said "that carpet is old" We're living in my mother's house and have been for nearly two years. Mom's been living here since 1955. She's still protective of her "new" carpeting in three rooms that open into each other - the living room, dining room and toy room. Of course, that carpet was new in the early 1970's!
