Today's ODAT

Hi all,
Today's ODAT (One Day at a Time) really spoke to me. It spoke of the thought of running away and starting all over again and how that wouldn't work.

Now that soudns like a good idea to me.....but where ever I go, there I am. I will be taking me with me and all my issues with me.

Which brings me to the quote from the page:
"Little by little I can change my world...not by escaping to a new one with the same old me, but by making a new me out of the old one."

Isn't that why I am here......I believe it is. I am here to change me not my world.

My hub is still going to drink/use no matter what I do. My job is still going to be on the stressful side. I am still going to have life through life's issues at me. But if I change me then how I react, let it affect me, and live my life will change.

I am in al-anon to work on me. I want to make a new me. Change what I don't like and leave the rest. :)

Yours in recovery,
Mandy

A few days ago I read in the Courage To Chage something that has really made me think.

"Nobody can go back and make a new beginning, but anybody can start today and make a brand new end."

A lot said in that little sentence.

Hey!  I read that too. I also related to it.  I haven't been reading the
ODAT much lately.  I am agreeing especially with the fact that
where I go, I take me with me!  What a concept.  I am
glad you brought that up.  There is so much wisdom in those pages.
By the way, my hub is going on two years of sobriety and I am so
proud of this length of sobriety.  He has had sobriety in the past
but not with so much dedication.  At least that is what I see!
Thank God for AA & Alanon, too!
IN RECOVERY,
Kathleen

(((((((((((MyMandy))))))))))),

There's an old saying (hey, hey easy on the old girl wink.gif) that "This program works if you work it and you are soooooooooo worth it."

Well my dear, you are an example of someone who's living up to this adage.  You are working this program to a T and it's showing.  Your program is very attractive to me and I am so proud of you.

It's so easy to work this program when life is smooth sailing but it's very difficult when we encounter rocky seas!  You are sailing your ship through rocky seas magnificiently letting your HP steer the ship.

Way to go!!!!!

Love ya,
Maria
