I've come a long way

My first post here was in OCT. 2007  I had just gone to my 1st Al-anon meeting.  9 months later and a whole lot of work has brought me back.

The crying, shaking and confusion began to fade as I made it to more meetings.  I began making new friends, living a life, and not looking at my AH with hatred and resentment.  I grew in spirituality, love, patience, and hope.  My AH did not and I left my home with our 4yr. old daughter at the end of May.

I will not take his daughter away from him...she needs a father as well as a mother.  He can see her any time, during the day, but at night (when he drinks) she stays with me.

He is outraged by this because "I don't have a problem" "I promise I won't drink when she's with me"  He has convinced his "well-off" parents of this as well and they have hired a high priced attorney to fight me for full custody.

Although I continue to pray "God grant me the serenity..." It still is disheartening to be involved with such strong denial.

Thank you all for being with me at the start and thank you all for being with me now.

Love,
Kim G

(((((((((((((Kim))))))))))))))))))),

WAY TO GO!!! I love it when people stop and realize how far they've come.  So proud of you for keeping your daughter safe.  The children truly are powerless.  If you have any documented situations where your A was not sober or driving with your daughter, that's what I'd use if/when this situation ever reaches the courts.

Good luck and keep coming, keep posting,
Maria

Sorry to hear that you have encountered such denial. I have too, the A who I as with  lives eats and sleeps denial.   I have no idea what his family does anymore I'm grateful I do not have to deal with them.

I am so proud of you that the program has helped you so much.  You are really a living example of how well detachment can work.

Keep us posted.

Maresie.
