P.S. I think you did the absolute right thing as far as your daughter is concerned. I mean, what a great lesson on doing what is best for you! What you did wasn't against her, it was FOR you and that is a good thing! And if I were there in real life, I would secretly tell the wait staff at the resturant that it was your b-day so that they would all come out and make you stand on your chair and sing their silly b-day song really loud!!!! Aren't you glad I'm not there? and when you start hating your b-day celebrations just remember that if seren were there it would be wwaaaaayyyyy worse!!! LOL!!!!
